Mar 19-29 Nat Pescador: “Año de Nacimiento

¿Qué se siente tener 27? ¿Es cierto que a uno le dan ganas de matarse? ¿Por qué ciertas celebridades se suicidan a esa edad?
Durante un año Nat Pescador, artista multidisciplinaria, se dedicó a averiguarlo en carne propia. Desde el día de su cumpleaños 27, un seis de octubre a las 6 de la tarde, hasta el día de su cumpleaños 28, toma una fotografía o escribe un texto al día intentando documentar todos los lugares en los que estuvo: físicos, morales, emocionales. Quería saber qué conduce a una persona a tomar una decisión tan drástica como terminar con su vida, o peor, con su juventud.
Así se construye Año de Nacimiento, una bitácora que narra seis obsesiones vitales propias de una identidad aún en formación y en plena crisis, es decir, el umbral para dejar atrás los últimos veintes. La exposición muestra 30 fotografías y varios textos en los que lx artista explora la relación con su cuerpo, el género, la tensión con el lugar de origen, los afectos y la violencia. Más que ofrecer respuestas, este proyecto plantea la vida cotidiana como un intervalo incierto, materia de observación, memoria y confrontación.

What does it feel like to be 27? Is it true that people start wanting to kill themselves? Why do certain celebrities die by suicide at that age?

For one year, multidisciplinary artist Nat Pescador set out to find out firsthand. From the day of their 27th birthday—October 6 at 6 p.m.—until the day they turned 28, they took one photograph or wrote one text each day, attempting to document every place they inhabited: physical, moral, and emotional. They wanted to understand what might lead a person to make a decision as drastic as ending their life—or perhaps something even worse: ending their youth.

This process gave rise to Year of Birth (Año de Nacimiento), a logbook that traces six vital obsessions belonging to an identity still in formation and in the midst of crisis—standing at the threshold of leaving the late twenties behind. The exhibition presents 30 photographs and several texts in which the artist explores their relationship with the body, gender, the tension with their place of origin, affection, and violence. Rather than offering answers, the project frames everyday life as an uncertain interval—material for observation, memory, and confrontation.
