Apr 2-18 Yescka: “Guie’dani”

In Zapotec, Gue’dani names the flower that is born on the hill:
The one that grows where there seems to be nothing,
The one that resists the wind, the hard land, the absence.
This exhibition starts from that image.
Not as a fragile metaphor, but as an affirmation.
The works gathered here spring from contexts where the imposed tries to order, erase or tame. However, like the flower, they persist. They cling to memory, the symbol, the minimum gesture that survives and is repeated until it becomes root.
Ignoring is not ignoring.
It is choosing not to give in.
In each piece there is a silent negative:
to disappear, to be completely translated, to become something else to fit in.
